AI stock analysis prompts for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok
These 7 stock analysis prompts work in any major chatbot. Replace [TICKER] with the stock you're researching. Start with the data-freshness prompt, then force an equal bull and bear case. Those two catch the most common problems: stale information and one-sided answers.
The 7 prompts
1. Check how fresh its data is
What is the date of the newest information you're using on [TICKER]? List your sources.
Do this first. If the answer is months old, so is everything after it.
2. Force both sides
Give me the bull case and the bear case for [TICKER], equal length, with the evidence for each.
Stops the answer from drifting into one-sided hype.
3. Check the latest earnings
What did [TICKER] report in its last earnings release? Compare revenue, EPS and guidance with expectations, and say how the stock reacted.
A quick test of whether it actually knows recent news. Verify against the company's release.
4. Find the hidden risks
What would have to be true for [TICKER] to fall 30%? Rank those scenarios by how plausible they are.
Surfaces risks a normal summary glosses over.
5. Test its confidence
Which of your points about [TICKER] are you least sure about, and what would change your mind?
A useful answer admits uncertainty.
6. Compare to peers
Compare [TICKER] with its 3 closest competitors on growth, margins and valuation in a table. Note the date of each number.
Valuation only means something next to peers. Check the numbers.
7. Explain a big move
Why did [TICKER] move today? Separate confirmed facts from speculation, and cite sources.
Good for red days, when explanations get overconfident.
Which chatbot to use them in
- Any model with live web access is better for recent news and earnings. Without it, answers may be out of date, which is why prompt 1 comes first.
- Run the same prompt in more than one model, then look at where the answers differ. That's usually the part worth researching. We tested this in which AI is best for stock analysis.
Doing that by hand takes a while. QuantCall AI, which is ours, runs one ticker through five models at once and shows where they split.
